1. HSBC GOES CLIMATE NEUTRAL
HSBC commits at COP-10 in Buenos Aires that it will take action to neutralise the climate change effects of all its business activities.

2. ADIDAS POST STAKEHOLDER DIALOGUE REPORTS
Adidas have posted their most recent 2004 stakeholder dialogue report, which focuses on labour issues in the garment industry.

3. SUMITOMO TRUST LAUNCHES SRI PENSION FUND FOR EMPLOYEES
The Sumitomo Trust expands its socially responsible investment (SRI) fund to handle "defined contribution" pension plans to meet growing Japanese demand for SRI options.

4. SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE INVESTING GROWS IN AUSTRALIA
A comparison by Ethical Investor Magazine of ethical to mainstream fund returns for the year to June 30, 2004, found outperformance by SRI funds of average mainstream wholesale and retail funds on a one, three and five year time scale.

RepuTex releases ratings on the Top 100 Australian and Top 20 New Zealand companies. They have rated the Top 100 Australian Companies for the past 5 years.

6. EIRIS PLANS TO SET UP OFFICES IN US AND JAPAN
EIRIS, an ASrIA member, is planning to open a US office to support its research on US companies in the Spring of 2005 and also a representative office in Tokyo, while at the same time appointing a number of Japanese speaking researchers in London.

7. FROM LEGAL LIABILITY TO MORAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Drawing on the examples of Bhopal and also climate change, a report by SustainAbility, an ASrIA member, examines how increasing legal liabilities are blending into moral liabilities, forcing companies to face social and environmental accountability.

2. FTSE4GOOD's NEW SUPPLY CHAIN LABOUR STANDARDS CRITERIA
FTSE, an ASrIA member, announced the details of the tougher new supply chain labour standards criteria for the FTSE4Good Index Series.

3. EUROSIF FUNDS DATA PUBLISHED
Eurosif launches 'SRI Funds Service' in association with Avanzi. This is the first free tool to combine performance and risk measures of the European SRI fund universe.

4. UK SRI RETAIL FUNDS SIGN-UP TO EUROSIF'S TRANSPARENCY GUIDELINES
About 75% of UK SRI retail funds have signed up Eurosif's transparency guidelines. Paul Hawkens has endorsed the guidelines and challenged US practitioners to follow suit.

5. ECOSYSTEM MARKETPLACE LAUNCHED BY KATOOMBA GROUP
The Ecosystem Marketplace has been launched to provide news and analysis on emerging markets in ecosystem services. The Katoomba Group is a group of forest industry representatives, donors and environmental groups who also founded Forest Trends.

6. ONLINE SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING AND ANALYSIS TOOL LAUNCHED
A tool to help companies collect, report and analyze sustainability performance data has been launched online, by doCOUNT, a Switzerland-based provider of environmental, health & safety (EHS) performance management software.

8. RAINFOREST ACTION NETWORK WINS THE 5TH TBLI AWARD 2004
Rainforest Action Network received the award for their leading role in pressuring project financing banks to embrace sustainable criteria in their project financing for emerging markets. This ultimately led to the creation of the Equator Principles.
